Understanding Covid 19 Vaccines and How To Prepare For Them

Misunderstandings Regarding Covid 19 Vaccines

There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding Covid-19 vaccines. There is a misconception that once you get vaccinated, you don’t have to wear a mask. First of all, none of the vaccines are 100% effective so you can still get Covid.  You should continue mask-wearing and social distancing. Even though you may be protected to some extent from the virus, you may carry the virus without knowing it and transmit the virus to someone at risk of dying from the virus. New Covid variants are surfacing each day. Currently, there are at least six known variants out there.  They include variants from China, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, UK, and India and others are arising.  Booster vaccine shots and new variant vaccines may be necessary to protect the public at large.  It is unclear whether the current Covid 19 vaccines can protect us from variants. Our holistic doctors recommend wearing a face mask and social distancing after vaccination.  Unfortunately, most pharmacies and doctor’s offices do not give adequate and clear instructions on how to behave after your vaccine and what protections should be continued. We recommend following current CDC guidelines.

Here are some tips on what you can do to prepare for your vaccine:

  1. Get tested for the virus before being vaccinated to make sure that you aren’t carrying the virus.  Getting a vaccine and having the virus may overwhelm your immune system and make you sick after the vaccine.
  2. Strengthen your immune system by taking oral vitamin C, at least 2 grams a day, or get IV vitamin C therapy prior to and after your vaccine to lessen the possibility of side effects and enhance the effects of the vaccine.
  3. Take vitamin D 10,000IU a day or get vitamin D injections.  Get your vitamin D levels checked.
  4. Take a comprehensive probiotic since the bulk of our immune system is contained in your GI tract.
  5. Drink a lot of water because dehydration can affect your immune system.
  6. Get adequate  sleep, at least eight hours a night to  help strengthen your immune system
  7. Take natural anti-inflammatory supplements like curcumin and ginger to help reduce blood thickening and take a baby aspirin one week before and two weeks after your vaccine.
  8. Drink tea or take supplements that contain echinacea and goldenseal to boost your immune system.
  9. Exercise to reduce stress levels and increase your body’s ability to handle the stress of getting a vaccine.
  10. Refrain from heavy alcohol use which may hamper your immune system.
  11. Cleanse and detox your body which can weaken your immune system by using super greens, NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine), and MSM (methyl-sulfonyl-methane).
